It's the FINAL COUNTDOWN! We are in our last quarter of second grade! Please make sure your Padawans are keeping on top of their expected iXL skills and iReady Reading & Math. The current iXL Mastery kill numbers are Language Arts = 52 and Math = 76. In addition they need 40 minutes total time iReady Reading and iReady Math (each).

Students always get plenty of time to work on these skills throughout the day but some need additional time and focus at home as well.

Our Weekly Goals: Q3W3

Our Weekly Goals

Q3W3

Dear Parents,

Homework has been replaced. On top of continuing to practice spelling words (with whatever your favorite activity may be), your student will be required to complete:

  • 40 minutes iReady (reading)
  • 40 minutes iReady (math)
  • iXL Skills (class average)
For iReady, you are going to want to sign into the Volusia County vPortal. Once you are here, your child SHOULD know their login by heart, by now. iReady does not count screen time (open screens) as time, but only counts active work/participation. You can keep track of how long your child has spent on iReady by checking their "My Progress" tab.

Each student has adequate time to work on iReady and iXL in class but some, more than others, need extra parental guidance to stay on task and use their time appropriately. Other than helping them login (if needed), there is no parental assistance needed in iReady as they know what they are to do.

iXL, however, welcomes parental interaction if they should get stuck.  They are expected to show mastery when the iXL score is 90% or higher. Most skills do not take longer than 10-15 minutes to master. If your child is taking longer than that, they may need some assistance.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
