Our Weekly Goals Q4W1 & Q4W2 - UPDATED

Distance Learning

Dear Parents,

I have been asked how you can support your students at home during this time. I am including my lesson plans and assignments for the students for the next two weeks. Normally I always show the standards and standard IDs in my lesson plans. Due to it overwelming the plans, I have removed them from parental view so you can focus just on the lessons to do. Please ignore the dates listed on the lesson plans as they were planned before the extended break. Focus on downloading per week. (The accurate dates are listed next to the download.)

Yes, you may work ahead, but please do not work behind. Everything is due by that Friday, but you may complete both weeks at once, should you be highly motivated to do so. I am available all through out the day for phone call, text, and planned conference via zoom. (Conferences may be requested as well.)

COMMUNICATION

Due to the need for communication (to be quicker) I am switching ALL parental communication to REMIND. This allows push to text notifications so I get an immediate text message to my phone from you and vice versa. It also allows phone calls, should you have ANY questions. I have already gone ahead and "added" parents to remind. (You should have received a text message) If you have not, please join http://www.remind.com/  with classroom code: @c2cek4k

If anything changes, I will let you know immediately.

Changes to iReady Expectations

Students will be focusing on completing and passing 5 iReady lessons in Math a week. Have your child show you the "You've passed" message so you are aware of their completed lesson. If students are focused and engaged in their work, it should take them approximately 45 minutes to complete two lessons. This may take them longer to complete if they having a hard time focusing.

iReady Challenge

The child with the MOST passed iReady lessons upon our return will receive a POSTIVE REFERRAL and a LUNCH BUNCH with MOVIE with Mrs. Vaughn. (1 from each homeroom class.) Therefore, if you have time to complete and pass an iReady lesson every day, please do that.

OPTIONAL SOURCES

The students love playing the following programs. Some know their user IDs, many probably forgot as it was freshly introduced last quarter. If you child is interested in playing the following games, please message me on REMIND and I will get their passwords for them.
  • Code.org (Students were learning coding and working on projects)
  • Duolingo (Students were practicing learning Spanish)
  • Prodigy (Students have fun learning math!)
  • ABC Mouse (I can create a free account) up to 2nd grade. For students who are at a 3rd grade level (please check to verify with me) then I can send you instructions on how to sign up for a LEARNING ACADEMY account for free.
When they have "down time" but still have screen time, encourage them to use these websites.

  1. Thank you for all you do Mrs. Vaughn. I know your students miss you as much as you miss them and you are doing everything you can to continue their learning. Thank you and stay safe.
